The 31-year-old took the opportunity to return to Vila Belmiro, where his football journey began as a gifted teenager.
Although Santos was held to a 0-0 draw by Audax Italiano in the Copa Sudamericana group stages, Neymar expressed his joy at being back at his “home” and “the club that gave me everything.” He added that he came to support Santos and receive the affection of the fans.
Despite not achieving the desired win, Neymar expressed his gratitude towards the club, which opened doors for him and his family, and revealed him to the world. As he made his way out of the stadium, he offered hope to Santos fans by saying, “One day I’ll be back. I’ll be back soon.”
Neymar’s future in France has been the subject of speculation, but he is currently contracted to PSG until 2025 and continues to play alongside Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe when he is free of fitness issues.
