Golden Door Opened: Chelsea Owner Todd Boehly Held a Meeting & Discuss About Neymar’s Availability!
According to reports, Chelsea FC could reignite their interest in signing Brazilian superstar Neymar this summer. The 31-year-old forward has been an integral part of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) since joining the Ligue 1 club in 2017, helping them win four league trophies in that time.
However, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is reportedly set to oversee a change in approach this summer in an attempt to finally win the UEFA Champions League, and a number of first-team players could leave the club as a result.
The Mirror reported that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly held a meeting in February to inquire about Neymar’s availability, and the Blues could rekindle their interest in the player.
Another Premier League club is also said to be keen on Neymar, whose options out of PSG are set to be limited due to a number of issues, including his high salary and injury history.
Neymar’s season was ended by another ankle injury after a promising start, and he could leave PSG this summer as the French club look to make changes.
Since his world-record £200m move from Barcelona to PSG nearly six years ago, the Brazilian has suffered injuries to his groin, ankles, abductor muscles, ribs, hamstring, and even a period of suffering from COVID-19, which at various times have kept him from playing.
His longest absence until now came in 2019, when he fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. Despite his injury record, Neymar remains one of the most talented players in the world, having scored 18 goals and provided 17 assists in 29 games this season alone.
