‘Fast And Furious: Hobbs & Shaw’ box-office collection Day 2: Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba’s action flick collects Rs 11.75 crore.

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s action-packed film, ‘Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw,’ continued its remarkable success at the Indian box office on its second day. After a strong opening day, the film maintained its momentum, collecting a staggering Rs 11.75 crore on its first Saturday, bringing its total earnings to an impressive Rs 22.75 crore in just two days. This success came at the expense of Sonakshi Sinha’s film, ‘Khandaani Shafakhana,’ which struggled to perform well at the box office due to the competition from ‘Hobbs & Shaw.’

Directed by David Leitch and featuring Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, and Helen Mirren, ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ is the ninth installment and a spin-off of ‘The Fast and the Furious’ franchise. The franchise holds a prominent position among the highest-grossing Hollywood franchises in India, alongside popular titles like ‘Avengers,’ ‘Spider-Man,’ and ‘Mission: Impossible.’ The film released in Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu languages, screening across approximately 2,100 screens throughout India.

The film’s exceptional opening day collections positioned it as a major contender at the domestic box office. According to reports from Boxofficeindia.com, ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ collected a total of Rs 11 crore on its opening day, surpassing the opening day collections of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ and achieving a similar range as the recent release of ‘The Lion King.’ However, the opening day figures for ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ were slightly lower than its franchise predecessor, ‘Fast & Furious 7,’ which amassed over Rs 12 crore in 2015.

Despite facing competition from other releases, the Hollywood blockbuster continued to dominate the Indian box office. The film’s opening day collections rank as the sixth-highest ever for a Hollywood film in India. The film’s multi-lingual release in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages further broadened its reach and appeal to audiences across the country. Notably, ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ clashed with the release of Sonakshi Sinha-starrer ‘Khandaani Shafakhana,’ which struggled to attract audiences compared to the high-octane action spectacle of ‘Hobbs & Shaw.’

With its strong box office performance and fan following, ‘Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw’ has solidified its position as a successful addition to the beloved ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise, reaffirming its popularity among Indian audiences and continuing to entertain moviegoers with its thrilling action sequences and star-studded cast.
