“Bond is objectifying everybody and also being a bada-s”: Aubrey Plaza Reveals She Made Jason Statham Uncomfortable in Guy Ritchie’s Operation Fortune, Treated Him Like a James Bond Girl
In a recent interview, American actress and producer Aubrey Plaza opened up about her upcoming action comedy film, “Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre,” directed by Guy Ritchie, where she stars alongside Jason Statham, known for his role in “The Transporter.” Plaza revealed that she became fed up with Statham pretending to be James Bond and decided to create an unpleasant situation for him on set. Not only that, but she also played a series of sinister pranks on her co-stars from the HBO series “The White Lotus” during the filming of its second season, to the point where one of the actors, Adam DiMarco, began questioning reality.
Speaking to GQ about her recent projects, Plaza discussed “Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre” and how she made her co-star uncomfortable by embodying the “female Bond” persona. According to Plaza, Statham’s character, MI6 agent Orson Fortune, comes across as a Bond-like character, which annoyed her because she believed she should be the female equivalent of James Bond. Plaza explained that the iconic 007 agent is a “badass” who objectifies everyone, so she decided to do the same.
Plaza’s actions made it clear that one shouldn’t try to imitate James Bond in front of her, as she will not hesitate to assert her dominance. The actress, known for her creativity, took advantage of the filming of the second season of Mike White’s comedy-drama series, “The White Lotus,” which took place at the San Domenico Palace hotel in Taormina, Sicily. The hotel is a former convent turned five-star establishment. Plaza saw this as an opportunity to play some rather morbid pranks on her fellow cast members.
It seems that Plaza’s pranks on Adam DiMarco, one of her co-stars in “The White Lotus,” went to an extreme level. She managed to drive him to a psychological breakdown, making him question his own sanity with ominous “Blair Witch style” pranks.
Aubrey Plaza’s actions clearly demonstrate that one should not try to be James Bond in her presence, as she will not hesitate to remind you who’s in charge. Her penchant for creativity extends to her pranks, as she finds ways to push boundaries and create unforgettable experiences for her fellow cast and crew members.
